Kyon’s Sheamus O’Shea
On his dam side Sheamus continued our highly successful and exceptionally sound ‘Shea-line’ . On his sire side he was the son of our wonderful Euchre (ch Tashora the Odds are at Kyon). Sheamus followed in his ancestor’s footsteps by achieving his championship easily, with BOB’s and 2 group placements. At our regional speciality he won Select dog and made us proud. A lovely-headed boy Sheamus was well structured with plenty of angulation and an iron topline. He was an outstanding mover, breath-taking to watch from the side, with perfect reach and drive. He was always a happy, stable and confident. Sheamus was a keen retriever plus a perfect waterdog. He passed away from severe spondylosis in 2022, and broke our hearts.

CH. Grenadier’s Northern Alliance
Residing at Kyon, Ollie was co-owned with his breeder Lisa McCabe. A big substantial boy, with excellent bone, he stood 24 1/2″ tall and weighed 84 lbs. Ollie possessed a strong masculine head with beautiful eyes and a dark, melting expression, pigment overall was also dark. A well angulated dog with a very good front and rear, he has super strong topline and plenty of slightly wavy coat. Ollie finished his championship easily, taking a specialty BOW the first time in the Canadian ring, at 18 months of age. He was an outstanding mover, incredibly light on his feet, clean coming and going, with a tremendous sidegait. In temperament Ollie was a happy, easygoing and very sweet boy. He was also a keen retriever , very birdy and a natural born swimmer, with a water-entry that was truly spectacular. His contribution to the Kyon pedigree is valued beyond words. Ollie passed away at 13.5 years of age from an intestinal virus .

Ch. Guldakra’s Ivan Lendl – AI Only
Our Ch Guldakra’s Ivan Lendl (OS) was a Swedish import. Ivan was shown briefly as puppy with speciality puppy wins. He won his first major points with a BOS-win from the puppy class and finished his championship easily as an adult. He was bred by Lotta Andersson in Sweden and was a most welcome addition to Kyon kennels.
Ivan’s movement was breath-taking with perfect timing, while being completely clean coming and going. He was well angulated with a strong topline, perfectly balanced , with a powerful strong rear and a very good front ,and straight front legs. His head was well chiselled; strong and masculine, with a soft expression and dark eyes. His dentition was perfect .Ivan was a big Golden with excellent bone and substance: 24 ” tall and 84 lbs . Ivan was cream in colour, had a moderate amount of dense coat, with excellent texture.
A truly wonderful dog; Ivan was all we could have hoped for; he had an uncomplicated disposition, was a gloriously happy dog, loved to play the clown, was still supremely easy-going, calm and steady when that was required. He was self-confident, a highly biddable dog, plus a very keen retriever; very birdy and had a stylish water entry. He died at couple of weeks short of his 14th birthday from typical old age mobilty issues.

Can Ch Kyon’s Rolling Stone
Mick was another home-grown Kyon dog who blessed us with many tremendous offspring. Light cream in colour, he was a substantial dog with outstanding angulation. Mick had a strongly masculine head, possessing a soft expression, with a dark eye . At 23 1/2 inches tall and 80 lbs he was a very solid package. He moved with a lot of power and drive, always maintaining a super strong topline. His coat was textbook correct: very dense and slightly wavy.
A gregarious dog, Mick had a tremendous amount of self-confidence and was a lot of fun in his interaction with people of all ages, as well as other dogs. This dog loved the whole world! He was also a brilliantly clever dog .
Mick was a super retriever with a strong drive to work , he is also very birdy and was a superb waterdog. Mick died well into his 15th year from old age issues.
OZZIE
Silversign Still In Style
Ozzie , aka Silversign Still in Style was another import form Sweden, who has made a strong contribution to the Kyon breeding program. He was a gentle and sweet dog who got his firts 10 points from the puppyclasses and winning Best Puppy in show. After that he decided he did not enjoy the show-ring, so he spent his life doing what he most liked: Retrieving , swimming in our ponds and running in our many fields. An elegant dog he was moderate in size and substance, measuring 23 1/4 ” tall and weiging 78 lbs. he had OFA “excellent” hips and consistently passed on his soundness to his offspring. We are so very grateful to Ulrika Zetterfeldt for allowing Ozzie to come to us. Ozzie died at 13.5 years of age from a stroke/vestibular syndrome following acute pancreatitis.

Ch. Tashora The Odds Are At Kyon
1993-2012
Bred by Louise Battley; Euchre (ch Tashora the odds are at Kyon ) sired exceptionally sound puppies for us, consistently passing on his tremendous character and his ‘always-sunny’ disposition. In 2011 he was shown at two large specialities, making the final cut in the huge specials classes- both days. We were so proud of our boy and loved him dearly. Medium gold in colour, Euchre was a large boy with a beautiful front and rear structure. His topline was to die for and he held together perfectly when he moved.
Euchre died by ingesting a leather glove that had been accidentally dropped in a snow bank. He will forever be greatly missed.
DILLON
Ch Chrys-Haefen Flying With Kyon
We were delighted with our Dillon aka Ch Chrys-Haefen Flying with Kyon. He is an elegant, pale cream, stylish, has a lovely headpiece, and dark pigment. Dillon was 23 1/2 ” tall and weighed 80 lb . He had all his clearances including being a PRA 1, 2, and was Ichthyosis free. Dillon was a fabulously structured boy who moved like the wind. He was an exceptionally loyal, soft-tempered dog, with a high working drive. Dillon brought in a unique pedigree. His sire was our last import from Norway (Ch Mjaerumhogda’s Flying Phantom- a dog that went back on old Scandinavian and British lines) and his dam brought in an interesting family tree that blended overseas and Canadian British style lines. We wish to thank Jennifer McAuley (Chrys-haefen) for letting us have this lovely and stylishly elegant boy as a stud-fee puppy. Unfortunately Dillon died suddenly from an accident when he was only 5 years of age. We were devastated at having to say goodbye to Dillon at such an early age.

Can Ch Kyon’s Hot To Trot
Romeo had a strong masculine head with dark eyes and soft expression. He was a true cream dog of exquisite English type – extremely well structured, with fantastic angles, front and rear. Although a relatively smaller dog, Romeo was substantial, with excellent spring of ribs and very well boned. He carried a heavy and slightly wavy coat with excellent texture. Romeo got his championship easily in 2 weekends of showing. He was an excellent retriever and had a spectacular water entry. He was 23“ tall and weighed approx. 77 lbs.

Can Ch Kyon’s Passionate Sheaster (OS)
Sheaster was a medium-dark gold dog with a stunning head and incredible angles, front and rear. Sheaster got his championship in a flash- with a national specialty Winners Dog and a Best of Breed at a sporting specialty. He also received a large major win in the States and later went on to win a Best in Speciality Show and numerous JAMs at other golden retriever specialities over the years, several of these from the veteran class. Sheaster was a powerful strong mover and had plenty of bone and substance. He carried a heavy and somewhat wavy coat, totally correct in texture. He was a keen retriever and very birdy. He produced more working dogs than any other stud-dog of ours, including the top titled golden retriever in Canadian history . Sheaster was 23 ½“ tall and 80 lb. in prime condition. He was a funny and clownish dog, who always made us laugh.

Bugsey is a well-balanced, true cream dog with a super rear, plus a good front with excellent fore-chest. He has a gorgeous English-style head and expression, very dark eyes and black non-fading pigment. He carries a very correct, but moderate coat, has excellent bone and substance, plus a strong top-line. Bugsey finished his championship easily – is a truly hard muscled and athletic dog with incredible movement. He shows strong retrieving desire and is a keen water dog. He is a somewhat smaller male: 23” tall and weighs 77 lbs.

Davey was our other Dewmist import. He was a substantial dog with super spring of ribs and good bone. His color was true cream, his head gorgeous, with dark eyes and black non-fading pigment. Front was very good, rear excellent- top-line very strong- this dog was a truly an eye-catching package. He was a super mover- had tremendous reach and drive with a lot of power. Davey got his championship in short order, winning BPIG along the way. He was specialized occasionally, has winning both a JAM at a specialty and a Group 1st under a breeder judge. Davey was a bit shy of 24″ tall and weighed 80-85lbs lbs. He came from a strong working line- and loved to retrieve. His hunting desire and field-ability was truly outstanding.

We fell in love with LENNIE at 8 weeks, when he came to Kyon to be evaluated. Once Karin put her hands on this special boy’s front she realized she just had to have him. Lennie’s sunny temperament makes him a joy to live with – and his sweet disposition a true pleasure to work with!
We’d like to thank BRUCE MACPHERSON for letting us have this pick of the litter boy- and also REBECCA McAULEY for handling him so well to his championship. We fell in love with LENNIE at 8 weeks, when he (and litter-mates) came to Kyon to be evaluated. When we put our hands on this special boy’s front we realized he would be a tremendous asset to our breeding program. Despite not having planned for another boy at the time, opportunity was knocking! Macgyver was a lovely-headed, light gold dog, who had tremendous reach and drive on the move. He was heavily boned and very substantial, has an iron top-line and is quite short-coupled. Mac had moderate amount of coat of superb texture. He finished his championship easily at 16 mos of age and went on from there to win multiple group-placements. Co-owned with Brenda Hux, Cameo kennels in NC, USA. Mac was a keen retriever and had a strong hunting drive. A big boy, he was 24 ½“ tall and weighs 85 lbs.

Can Ch Dewmist Santorini (OS)
Toni was imported from Dewmist kennels in Sweden. He came from a famous combination, and has winning litter-mates in Sweden, Australia and Italy. He was an elegant, medium cream coloured dog, with exquisite type and outline. His head was extremely well chiseled- with perfect planes, and his dark eyes showed a melting expression. Pigment is jet-black and non-fading. His angulation, front and rear, was superb, top-line was excellent, bone was moderate- and coat was fairly heavy, with excellent texture and a slight wave. Toni was a tall dog at 24 inches and 82 lbs. He was a strong hunting dog who was happiest when he could retrieve all day long.

Banner is a 2 year old boy who has passed all his clearances (including his PRA 1 and 2 DNA test) and he continues to show a lot of promise. Bandit was a grandson of Shea and of Am Ch Belgold Doxology (Am OS) from one of our best bitches ever, Ch Kyon’s Lucy In the Sky (Can OD). He was light gold with plenty of bone and subtance. He has a beautiful front with wonderful forechest and a strong, driving rear.
Bandit, was retired in his 10th year due to low fertility rates. He went on to live a content life as a beloved family pet and was in excellent health and spirits. He made a significant contribution to our breeding program, through his many excellent daughters and his grandson Bugsey. Bandit’s gentle temperament and outstanding athletic ability as well as his strong hunting and retrieving drive have all been the corner stone of his production record. He stood 23 1/2 inches and weighed 78 pounds.

Sheaman was a son of Shea and a grandson of English import Pinecrest Kendall. Sheaman was light gold, heavily boned and excelled in head type, powerful movement and had a beautiful front and rear. He was a specialty winner from the Veteran Class, had multiple Best Veteran In Show wins, as well as multiple Stud Dog wins.
Sheaman has had a tremendous influence on Kyon goldens and other breeding programs in both Canada and the US. His strong hunting desire and retrieving instinct has made for producing excellent working dogs. Sheaman sired his last litter at almost 12 years of age. He led the life of a happy senior family –pet here with us, in excellent health and spirits. He stood 24 1/2 inches – and weighed 85 pounds.

We are extremely proud to have produced Tango who was a multiple BIS winner and Top Golden in Canada in both 1989 and 1990. Tango also won our Canadian National Specialty in 1990. Tango also won our Canadian National Specialty in 1990 and took his American Championship with all Specialty Majors. A credit to the breed, he typified what a truly good Golden Retriever should be. He was a medium gold, with a beautiful head and fantastic movement in top line. Tango lived the rest of his life happily with Rick Stopp.

A Best Puppy in Show winner, Randall finished his championship at ten months of age. He became an integral part of the KYON breeding program until his untimely death (from bloat) when he was in his thirteenth year. Randall consistently produced his strong topline and perfect balance and can be found in the background of our most outstanding producers.

Shea was a keen retriever and garnered many obedience titles. By design he was also a descendant of the our first litter, since we wanted to maintain that line of exceptional longevity. Shea is behind almost every Kyon golden retriever of today. He was a marvelous producer and for well over a decade he had the honour of being called the top producing Golden Retriever in Canada.
