RIP darling Tessa. Run free; reunited with Robert Lindsy Milne.
Yesterday we sadly said our difficult goodbye to TESSA (CH Kyon’s Maggie Stone (2008-202) https://www.k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=458073).
We wept in the morning when Tessa clearly “told” us, that it was now time for her to be reunited with her beloved Robert- and so we honoured her wishes. Tessa made it well into her 16th year- and she lasted almost 2 months since we brought her back here, to Karin and Wally’s home – after the sudden unexpected passing of Robert in early January.
Our deepest thanks go out to our veterinarian Dr. Penny Rowland who came here and helped Tessa cross over, lying comfortably on her dog bed and being wrapped in Karin’s arms. Karin was there when Tessa was born – so long ago- Karin was there when she was rescued back home from a neglectful /abusive situation at 4 months of age, Karin was there when Tessa went to live with Robert as a teenager, Karin was there when Tessa came back to Kyon for having a couple of litters – and finally, Karin was there in Tessa’s last few weeks, after Robert’s untimely passing.
Tessa slept in our bedroom in the last few weeks, she was at Karin’s side constantly, always nudging for more pats, she ate well until her very last day (when she refused her food ), she loved rolling in the snow- she skipped and hopped around, she managed fine navigating the ramp we put on our stairs.
And then suddenly she had had enough.
It was very sad for us- the loss of Tessa naturally got mixed with our grief over having lost our dear friend Robert. I hope he was there to welcome her back into Robert’s heavenly pack, beyond the Rainbow Bridge.
Rest in Peace, my darling girl…. and Thank You for all the love and sunshine you spread. Tessa will live on at Kyon, through her many descendants.
*Tessa has been cremated and her ashes will be spread at Kyon, together with Robert’s ashes, this coming spring. If you want to be part of a ceremony for Robert and his many pets, then please contact Karin at kyonkennels@gmail.com or PM me on FB here. Please share this post – so that we can properly honour Robert’s amazing and richly productive life, as well as the lives of his many beloved pets…. including Tessa’s.
