SAGA

CH Tsarshadow Kyon Legendary Saga RN, CD (OD)

Our thanks go out to co-owner Dawne Deeley for sending us this lovely Buhund showgirl: SAGA- aka CH Tsarshadow Kyon Legendary Saga RN, CD. Saga is a littermate to the famous RAGNAR (Am GR Ch Tsarshadow Ragnar Lodbrok- Westminster winner).
Saga achieved her conformation championship in record time – with multiple herding Puppy group wins as well as owner-handled. She was also shown at baby puppy competitions and was undefeated in the herding group as a baby puppy. Finally, Saga received her Rally Novice title in 3 straight trials with a high in class and her CD in one weekend, all with great scores.

Saga is in the middle of the standard in height, very light wheaten in colour, with an endearing expression and a happy-go-lucky temperament. This girl loves to make us laugh! She is also incredibly clever and thoroughly enjoys training and performing.
Saga is now retired and is a beloved pet in the Barr-Klouman household while she continues her career in Rally Obedience. Saga gave us 4 wonderful litters, and through her offspring, she has become an extremely influential brood-bitch worldwide.

PEDIGREE & CLEARANCES
VALKYRIE

Kyon’s Boldest Valkyrie

We were so pleased when VALKYRIE aka Ch Kyon’s Boldest Valkyrie passed all her clearances with flying colours. She has crystal clear eyes and super hips and consistently passed her soundness and wonderful steady temperament on to her puppies.

At less than 12 months of age -and in just a few short weekends- Valkyrie achieved her championship -in part owner-handled to her title. Valkyrie is a larger, substantial and well-boned clear light wheaten girl of superbly correct type.

After 3 litters Valkyrie is now retired to become our sweet pet, typifying the utterly correct “look” of a Norwegian Buhund. She loves sleeping on the sofa, but is an eager worker whenever that is asked of her too!

LETTIE

Am/Can Gr Ch Kyon’s Lekende Lett

Lettie aka Am/can Gr ch Kyon’s Lekende Lett is one of the very best Buhunds we have ever bred. Achieving her championship undefeated as a puppy she got her American championship title just as quickly- then went on to get her Grand Championships in both countries, with group 1st, as well as numerous other competitive herding group placements.

After 3 wonderful litters, Lettie is now retired and lives life as a beloved family pet. She is an extremely steady Norwegian Buhund with great confidence, is laid back in nature and superbly easy to get along with. She always loved the show ring and exemplified the correct Buhund type, structure, movement and temperament. She is a rich clear wheaten in colour.

TYRI

Ch Kyon’s Tore Tyri

Tyri aka Ch Kyon’s Tore Tyri was one of our favourite girls, clear light wheaten in colour. She got her championship easily from the puppy classes. Then a tragedy occurred at KYON in 2017. Our darling Norwegian Buhund girl suddenly died, following an urgent C-section to deliver eight big puppies (one puppy was coming sideways and was blocking the birth canal). This was the first time in over 30 years in this breed that we have had to do a c-section for any buhund, who normally are easy free-whelpers. Tyri unfortunately died on the operating table, before ever waking up.

Tyri was one of our finest buhund girls – with the sweetest and most steady temperament, also possessing beautiful type and structure. We take comfort in knowing that all her eight pups from her orphaned litter were saved. Tyri remains in our pedigrees to this date with her offspring from her two litters having gone on to do amazingly well, both in the show ring and in the performance field- as well as being beloved family pets.

SYNNE

Ch Kyon’s Synne Perledatter OD

SYNNE aka Ch Kyon’s Synne Perledatter OD completed her championship with ease and also passed all her clearances with flying colours. Our bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and super cute buhund puppy is now retired to a pet home (where she is the company for one of her daughters) after having delivered three wonderful litters for Kyon.

Synne is a charmingly affectionate, highly biddable Buhund, who was an outstanding dam for us and can now be found in many pedigrees. She finished her championship as a puppy with multiple “Best Puppies in Show” and followed that up with several large herding group placements.

Synne is kindness personified, yet is a spunky and confident girl- and she was a great addition to our breeding program. Her many offspring have gathered working titles and Best in Show wins- and she has many numerous champion offspring. Synne has ended up becoming one of our most influential brood-bitches of all time.

Many thanks go out to the “Foster Parent”, Kaley, for doing such a great job socializing and training Laika for us! Laika’s sire is the Norwegian import JARL ( ch Leitegarden’s Frode Jarl), from his very last litter. Her dam is the multiple puppy-group and Best puppy in show winner FROYA (ch Kyon’s Bold Nordic Queen). After a couple of litters Laika is now retired and is living “The Life of Reilly” with her foster parent Kaley- while we are hoping that her phenomenal daughter Lettie – aka AM/CAN Ch Kyon’s Lekende Lett- will continue Laika’s considerable heritage at Kyon!

She herself got her championship as a puppy, winning several Best Puppy In Group wins. A daughter of our marvellous Heidi and our Norwegian import Drillo, a top winner in Canada. Clear light wheaten, Tora was exceptionally sweet-tempered girl, yet confident and outgoing. A truly typical Norwegian Buhund, she was all this breed is meant to be; bright and biddable with an excellent herding dog instinct. Tora accidentally died too young ; unfortunately was attacked by a pack of coy-wolves, who had roamed onto our property and lured her into the bush-and she could not survive the encounter despite all our efforts . The shock of loosing her in such a manner will forever stay with us. Thankfully she lives on through her many descendants at Kyon.

TIA MARIA

Kyon’s Sote Tia Maria

2003-2017

Tia Maria was our sweetheart girl. She preferred to stay at home and was a soft, gentle soul who did not really enjoy dog-shows. Well structured and with exquisite type , she has a stunning head. She possessed a strong herding instinct and loved to be given a chance to work. Tia was also incredibly maternal and looked after all kind of babies. A clear wheaten in colour she was substantial and well boned without being coarse. she was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 12.5 years of age- with cortisone medication she lived on for another 10 months and passed peacefully with our son Sean at her side .

HEIDI

Can Ch Kyon’s Freidige Heidi

1996-2012

She won many hearts at the shows with her exquisite beauty and eye-catching movement. Heidi won numerous puppy groups and puppy shows and was a consistent placer in the herding group. She was also the first buhund female to win a group 1st. We are truly proud of her many accomplishments! Heidi lived to be 16 plus years of age. she had large benign tumour removed from her spleen at age 12- and went on to have 4 more quality years with our family. We loved her dearly and were deeply saddened when we had to gently let her go from acute liver and kidney failure . We are so grateful for the fact that she still lives on through many descendants at Kyon kennel and that she so extremely influential in all our current day pedigrees.

SIV a once in a life-time girl.

LIV

Can Ch Kyon’s Fantastiske Lys Og Liv

1997- 2011

Liv got her championship easily going from best puppy in group a long way. A striking-looking female, she is pale wheaten in colour and exceptionally well put-together. Liv is laid back and quiet of nature, but full of life when she can indulge in her passion for herding. Diagnosed with stomach cancer towards the end of her ancient life she was gently let go- we will never forget our sweet darling girl.

MINDI

Can Ch Kyon’s Forst Og Fremst Min

1999-2014

Mindi aka Ch Kyon’s first of Fremst Min was a gentle yet very spunky girl who finished her title in the blink of an eye and went on to have 3 large litters at Kyon. She was gently let go after we had done numerous surgeries to fix a severely broken leg that had occurred as result of a free accident. We had hoped to have had her for many more years, but alas this was not to be as 2 major surgeries proved unsuccessful .

STINE

Can Ch Kyon’s Min Lille Fine Stine

2001-2015

Stine was a kind, gentle soul with lots of working desire . She was a smaller package , but loved the show-ring and finished her title very quickly with puppy group wins. Ch. Kyon’s Froken Frekk og Kjekk aka “FREKKA” was an outstanding producer for KYON Kennels. She is the dam of numerous champions, herding dogs, obedience workers and dogs that competed in agility. Light wheaten in colour, she was compact and well angulated. Frekka always passed on her sunny disposition and strong working instinct. she lived a long life at Kyon and retired to our daughter’s home in her senior years… where she nurtured our 4 grandchildren for many years. Frekka survived an operation for mammary cancer at age 14 and went on to live for another 2 years. She died at home in Karin’s arms , from a massive stroke. It was if she waited until her first “mother” arrived before she let go and she passed peacefully, being gently kissed as she took her last breaths. She will forever be remembered with enormous fondness by everybody in our family.

SONG

Can Ch Kyon’s Song Of Norway

1992- 2002

Ch. KYON’s Song of Norway, from the first Canadian bred Norwegian Buhund litter , caused a stir at rare breed competitions, once going all the way to Best of Opposite In Show. Once the breed was recognized in Canada she finish her title with group placements, being an amazingly light-on-her-feet mover . Light medium wheaten in colour, Song was a female of good size with a beautiful head and expression. She was an amazingly sweet and kind dog with a strong herding instinct and she delivered many wonderful pups at Kyon. Song’s life unfortunately was cut short in that she managed to climb over a gate and then died accidentally; from being hit on the road right in front of our house. The shock of loosing her in that manner has remained with us forever.

MINNA

Leitegard’s Godemine Kyon

1989-2002

MINNA is the foundation female Buhund for KYON reg’d. All Canadian-bred Norwegian Buhunds have Minna somewhere in their pedigree. Light wheaten in colour, Minna had tremendous bone and substance , but was of a rather short stature . She was a consistent producer of exceptionally sound offspring, always passing on her strong herding instinct. Minna possessed tremendous courage and had no problem rounding up a herd of 100 plus beef cattle- to watch her working was an amazing experience- and we credit her for the strong herding instinct which to this day persists in our Kyon line across the board . Minna was also an incredibly nurturing little soul and was our guarding angel – always making sure that children and adults alike were well liked after. She died from congestive heart failure and while we all deeply mourned her passing , we celebrate everything that she gave us, through so many years.
