Our hearts are broken: Euchre has passed away.

Euchre (ch Tashora the Odds are at Kyon) 2003-2012

Euchre champion male english cream golden retriever

"EUCHRE" can Ch. Tashora the Odds are at Kyon

it is with deep regret and broken hearts that we announce that our dearest Euchre has passed away, far too early. His untimely death was caused by the ingestion of a leather glove (accidentally dropped by a guest in a snow-bank), which had lodged in his intestinal track.

His passing is hard for us to come to terms with, especially  since Euchre was never a ‘chewer’. Despite our best efforts -and two emergency surgeries- we could not save his life and thus we are left in total shock. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would loose our sweet and happy boy at this age ( His father passed at age 13.5 years, his mother is still thriving at age 10).

Being a kennel that is used to loosing our seniors usually well into their teens, we are having a really difficult  time accepting that we have lost our eternally sunny boy. We try to take comfort in knowing that he will live on in the happy and gregarious spirit of his many descendants here at Kyon (and elsewhere across our continent).

Euchre has made a phenomenal impact on our breeding program. We have several of his descendants here, such as his champion daughters Montana (ch Kyon’s Secret Montana) and Peggy Sue (Ch Kyon’s lil Peggy Sue) and his promising young son Sheamus  (Kyon’s  Sheamus O’Shea). As I write this we have a young litter born from Euchre and Tierra (Kyon’s Flash in The Pan) and later this spring we are expecting his very last litter, from Tessa  (Kyon’s Maggie Stone).

Euchre was bred by Louise Battley of Tashora reg’d Golden Retrievers. His sire was Multi/Int Ch. Lorinford Harlequin  and his dam was Ch. Tashora Ranchosiera Moonstruck.

Rest in Peace, dear Euchre- we will  miss your happy nature and infectious smile forever…

Life is so fated at times — that something someone would do inadvertently would end up in tragedy. And these incredible dogs are designed to break our hearts — but to also fill them with love and joy.

thanks Jean– as time goes by i see Euchre all around me in his daughters, granddaughters -and in his young son (Sheamus) — and i take great comfort in knowing that he lives on and still spreads lots of joy, through the happy-go-lucky nature of his many descendants. thanks for your kind words.
